With a regional foundation of more than 4,000 member companies spanning all 83 Michigan counties, Automation Alley unites industry, academia, and government to build a connected ecosystem that drives technological adoption, workforce development, and economic prosperity. Over the past 25 years, our programs have engaged one in three Michigan manufacturers, helping companies of all sizes develop the skills, strategies, and partnerships needed to thrive in a rapidly changing digital landscape.

Our Initiatives
Automation Alley is fueling Michigan’s transformation into a global leader in advanced manufacturing. Through initiatives like the Integr8 Roundtable Series and Playbooks, Project DIAMOnD, and our international trade missions, we help manufacturers at every stage of their digital transformation journey — from first steps to full-scale adoption of technologies like AI, robotics, additive manufacturing, mobility, and cybersecurity.
Automation Alley is fueling Michigan’s transformation into a global leader in advanced manufacturing. Through initiatives like the Integr8 Roundtable Series and Playbooks, Project DIAMOnD, and our international trade missions, we help manufacturers at every stage of their digital transformation journey — from first steps to full-scale adoption of technologies like AI, robotics, additive manufacturing, mobility, and cybersecurity.
We have gone on 55 trade missions to 23 countries, resulting in $2.4 billion in export sales and more than 12,000 jobs created statewide. Through our international business attraction efforts, 59 foreign companies from 20 countries have soft-landed in Michigan, and 154 global delegations have visited our state to explore opportunities for partnership and investment.
In parallel, Automation Alley has facilitated $8.6 million in capital access for 373 small manufacturers and supported Michigan’s defense industry with $10.7 million in facilitated contracts statewide, helping businesses modernize and compete in new markets.
