Privacy

Automation Alley is committed to protecting the privacy and security of its members, visitors, and customers. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, how we protect it, and how you can access or update your information.

This policy applies to all data collected through Automation Alley managed websites and services. It does not apply to the practices of companies we do not own or control, or to individuals we do not employ or manage.

Information We Collect

Automation Alley collects information in a variety of ways to support our services, improve user experience, and enhance our understanding of the businesses we work with.

Personal Information

We collect limited personal information that individuals provide directly through forms, event registrations, membership applications, surveys, or similar interactions. This typically includes:

  • Name
  • Company
  • Job title
  • Business email address
  • Business phone number

We do not collect personal information unrelated to your professional role, such as home addresses, personal email accounts, or personal phone numbers.

Company Information

When a user submits identifying information related to a business, we may enhance or supplement that company profile using reliable third-party data sources. This enrichment process allows us to better understand the organization’s size, industry, location, affiliations, and other characteristics relevant to our programs, grants, and services.

The scope of company-related information we collect may vary depending on the nature of the engagement or program and may include publicly available data, government records, and information provided by trusted data partners.

Technical and Usage Data

When users visit our websites, we automatically collect basic technical information to support site functionality and usage analytics. This may include, but is not limited to:

  • Browser type and device information
  • Pages visited and links clicked
  • Date, time, and duration of visit
  • Referring URLs or search engines
  • General geographic location (e.g., city or state)

This data is collected in aggregate and is used only for internal analytics and performance monitoring. Visitors may browse our public-facing websites anonymously without submitting any identifying information.

How We Use Your Information

Automation Alley uses the information we collect to support our programs, communicate with members, improve our services, and fulfill our organizational mission. Specific uses may include:

  • Administering memberships, events, grants, and training programs
  • Processing payments and managing financial transactions
  • Responding to inquiries and supporting customer service
  • Sending newsletters, announcements, surveys, and marketing communications
  • Personalizing communications and recommendations based on a user’s role or company
  • Conducting internal analytics to improve our content, services, and user experience
  • Evaluating company-level data to inform program eligibility, engagement, and outreach
  • Enhancing company records using trusted third-party data sources
  • Training and refining AI systems that support business intelligence and operational automation

We do not use personal information to make automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects. However, company-level information may be evaluated by automated systems to assist with program targeting and service optimization.

How We Share Your Information

Automation Alley shares limited information with third parties when necessary to provide services, fulfill obligations under grants or contracts, or support member engagement. We do not sell personal or company data. We do not disclose individual email addresses to members or external parties without permission.

Member Information Sharing

Automation Alley may share member company details with other members upon request. This typically occurs when a member seeks to connect with businesses that meet certain criteria. The information shared may include names, job titles, company names, industries, and business addresses. Email addresses are not shared.

Grant, Program, and Contract Reporting

For funded programs and initiatives, Automation Alley may collect, analyze, and share company data with grantors, sponsors, or other designated partners. The type and level of detail shared depends on the specific requirements of the program and the usage rights of the source data. Data obtained under third-party licenses, such as from commercial databases, will not be shared externally unless expressly permitted.

Third-Party Service Providers

We use third-party service providers to support operations such as CRM, email distribution, analytics, event registration, and other core systems. These providers are given access only to the data necessary to perform their services and are required to protect it.

Payment Processing

Payments submitted through our websites are processed securely through Stripe. Automation Alley does not store credit card numbers or share payment data outside the secure payment process. You can view Stripe’s terms and privacy practices at https://stripe.com/legal

Marketing and Communications

Automation Alley uses email, SMS, and other communication channels to communicate with members, partners, and contacts about relevant topics.

Email updates are used to share information about our programs, events, services, and other relevant opportunities. We maintain several email lists to keep members and contacts informed. These email addresses are never shared outside of Automation Alley staff. We comply with the requirements of the CAN-SPAM Act. All marketing emails clearly identify Automation Alley as the sender, include a valid physical mailing address, and provide a straightforward way to opt out of future communications.

SMS messages are used only for one-on-one communication between Automation Alley staff and individual contacts, such as coordinating program participation or following up on a conversation. These are not automated messages and are not used for mass marketing or promotional purposes. Users may opt out of SMS communication at any time by contacting us or replying to the staff member with a request to stop.

Automation Alley’s marketing practices are governed by U.S. law. We do not market to minors or intentionally target individuals in the European Union, and as such, we are not fully compliant with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

You may opt out from communications by Automation Alley at any time by contacting us at info@automationalley.com

Cookies and Tracking Technologies

Automation Alley uses cookies and similar tracking technologies on our websites to support functionality, analyze usage patterns, and improve user experience. These technologies may also be used by third-party tools integrated into our websites for analytics, marketing, and site optimization.

These tools may set cookies or tracking pixels to monitor engagement, understand audience behavior, and help us refine our digital outreach. We do not use these technologies to collect sensitive personal data, and we do not track individual users across unrelated websites.

You can manage or disable cookies in your browser settings at any time. Disabling cookies may affect how some parts of our site function.

Use of Artificial Intelligence

Automation Alley uses artificial intelligence (AI) technologies to enhance its internal operations and services. AI is used in areas such as content development, data enrichment, analytics, and internal chat-based assistance. These tools help us improve the quality and relevance of the information we provide and support more efficient workflows.

All outputs generated through AI are reviewed and edited by staff before being shared externally. We do not use AI to replace human judgment, but rather to support and strengthen it. Users may receive communications or insights that have been informed by AI, but they are always subject to human oversight.

In some cases, company data may be used as part of the inputs for AI-driven processes. This data may be transmitted to third-party AI platforms, like ChatGPT. We do not, however, share sensitive company or personal information with these platforms, nor do we use AI tools to profile individuals or make automated decisions that affect users.

Automation Alley is actively exploring, evaluating, and developing new AI applications. As our use of AI evolves, we remain committed to transparency, oversight, and the responsible use of these technologies.

How We Protect Your Information

Automation Alley takes the security of your information seriously and uses a combination of administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect it. We maintain secure systems and follow industry standards to prevent unauthorized access, disclosure, or misuse of data.

Access to personal and company information is limited to authorized staff and partners who need the data to perform their job functions. We regularly review our security practices and update our systems as needed to respond to evolving threats and technologies.

In the event of a data breach, Automation Alley will investigate promptly and take appropriate action. If we determine that a breach may materially impact the business operations or sensitive data of a user or organization, we will notify affected parties directly and provide relevant information and guidance.

While we make every effort to protect the information in our care, no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. As such, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Automation Alley does not knowingly collect, use, or store personal information from individuals under the age of 18. Our services and communications are intended solely for adults engaged in professional or organizational activities. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected information from a minor, we will delete it promptly.
