SUNY Chancellor Award-Winning Professor Bina Ramamurthy of the University at Buffalo has led the very successful global class “Blockchain Specialization” on Coursera’s platform, focused on Blockchain Introduction, Smart Contracts, Decentralized Apps, and Blockchain Platforms. These four courses consist of 56modules of 90 lessons, with over 300,000 learners worldwide. This effort was followed in 2019-2020 with a deeper dive into Dapp programming to help freelancers and developers to learn blockchain-based decentralized programming, with the publication of “Blockchain in Action” published by Manning. She is developing a comprehensive curriculum consisting of three courses for an undergraduate track in blockchain technology. Additionally, Dr. Ramamurthy has been an invited speaker at many events, including ones by the Department of Financial Services (DFS) of NY, The Interpol (international police) working group, and the European Patent Office (EPO) workshop. She is also the Director of the Blockchain Think Lab center and has hosted two high-profile and well attended Western New York Blockchain hackathons. UB Blockchain Think Lab is supported by generous funds from Foundry Digital LLC of Rochester, NY. In addition, Dr. Ramamurthy has also received a grant from Automation Alley, a non-profit organization in Troy, Michigan, for research on Blockchain-based governance in the manufacturing industry, and from Power2PeerEnergy, Rochester, New York, for research on blockchain-based renewable energy marketplace.
