A miner used robotics to inspect dangerous areas and keep workers out of harm's way. Without sufficient data to determine how large the space currently is, it is difficult for mines to determine how much backfill material is required to fill the void and ensure the surrounding ground is stable, so the miner flew robots into the no-go zone to explore an unexpected void and estimate the size of the caving, using an adjustable camera to get clear pictures of the ground condition. The robotic solution provided previously unavailable data that allows for planning and significantly better decision-making tools.
